Though it's important to have a theme when you are writing about something, sometimes that theme doesn't work in that moment and then you try anyway to make it work. But then over time you see it just isn't going where you want it to.
Many writers outline their whole thing that they are writing ahead of time so that the have the beginning, middle and end in their minds even before they sit down to write. Though being organized I can see can be helpful I found out in my early 20s that for me personally being spontaneous is always best if I am allowed in life to be this way.
So, as a way of staying alive and surviving my 20s I learned being spontaneous was best for my personality type. I got bored easily and I got disappointed easily especially as a younger person. So, finding ways to make life interesting enough to continue to stay alive was really important for me especially from about age 18 to 25 years old.
I found myself happy as a parent and less happy being married but also liking the discipline and order that being a parent brought into my life. I also liked having my own family with someone I had chosen to live with and have children with.
I find when I begin to write something it either works or it doesn't. And when something is working it's like I wrote in a recent piece on writing which is: "If it ain't broke don't fix it".
So, it doesn't matter whether it is something you are writing or it's a relationship if it is working "don't break it by messing with it too much".
"If it ain't broke don't fix it".
Most things in life either work or they don't and the wisdom in life is to realize what is working and what is not and in letting things that aren't working go if you can.
