Where I live it is presently 59 degrees at 9:30 pm. However, in places like San Ardo (at the very same time inland on 101 it is presently 95 degrees at 9:30am going to 113 degrees today. This is the paradox of life here in California. If you are lucky enough to live along the Coast you are going to see temperatures you can stand to live in without air conditioning (usually) but inland people are dying, fish are dying in lakes from a lack of oxygen caused by the horrible heat so whole campgrounds are having to be closed from dead fish (thousands of them) and here is only a part of the problem which now includes more wildfires and at least 270,000 acres burned in California this season mainly because of the heat. Also, Helicopters cannot safely operate above 120 degrees without crashing. So, the main reason the motorcyclist died of the heat in Death Valley is they could not send a helicopter to rescue this person because it was over 120 degrees where helicopter engines tend to fail and crash. And the 2nd one who lived but had to be transported all the way to Las Vegas from Death Valley by Ambulance.
Redding is now at 9:30 91 degrees going to 113 degrees today, Friday 115, Saturday 114
Sacramento 85 presently going to 111 degrees today
Fresno 90 going to 112
Bakersfield 94 going to 113
Lancaster 96 going to 110
Las Vegas Presently 105 degrees at 9:45 am going to 118 degrees today
Palm Springs presently 97 degrees going to 119 degrees today
And yet,
Eureka 56 degrees going to 60 today
San Francisco 68 going to 76 degrees today
Monterey 60 going to 66 degrees today
Santa Barbara 58 going to 68 today
San Diego 68 going to 76 today
So, this time of year (especially with Global Climate changes) living on the coast might actually save your life these past few weeks of temperatures 20 to 40 degrees above normal inland in California, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas and other states.
