His real life actually started after he had been president. Being president wasn't easy for him. Things like the hostage Crisis in Iran of American Embassy employees for example.
Jimmie Carter's real legacy was actually as a philanthropist working from Plains, Georgia and his peanut Farm and and helping build houses as a volunteer so more people could have homes, making sure elections were fair around the world and many things like this.
So, even though he wasn't made a Saint by Rome, he still was a Saint in every way that the public could see from all his many actions helping people.
No wonder he lived to 100 because of all the people he helped who also prayed for him and his wife.
