Note: I'm referring to World War II when the Germans attacked Russia. IN other words 20 million Russians starved to death or froze to death and the same with many German Soldiers then. end note.
This broke the back of the German Army which eventually led to their defeat in Berlin after the D-Day landing at Normandy, France by ships and paratroopers from the sky and gliders full of jeeps and men.
In Japan because of the Samurai Culture they were never going to surrender ever. So, President Truman after President Roosevelt died bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki with Atomic Bombs to force their surrender. The U.S. government was likely just going to keep nuking towns until the Japanese surrendered.
It is thought that this saved the lives of around 900,000 American Troops trying to take Japan.
People feel many ways about all this but most people who talk about this didn't live through this now because most veterans and people who lived then are now dead here in 2025.
