Though it is done in a humorous vein it's an interesting idea because an Octopus has 9 brains. It has it's own main brain like we have and it also has one brain to run each of it's 8 legs. So, in some ways it is 9 times smarter than humans without having a spine or skeleton and is likely the smartest non-air breather in the Ocean by far.
So, the interesting idea of an Octopus being God I found pretty funny knowing what I know about the Octupus (especially the Giant Northern Pacific Octopus) which is the breed of Octopus that Flame, the Time traveling Octopus originally sprang from here on Earth. In other words his genetics began at Monterey Bay Aquarium before his species was trained to accompany humans and robotics to another water world where humans died out from a local disease or diseases in the future (likely 2500 to 3000 AD) this happened already. So, about 10,000 years later in Octopus evolution on this other water planet they had developed space travel along with the robotics that they were trained to operate. It's true that many octopi had died when the humans died out that were planetary colonists. However, some were self possessed enough to survive along with the robotics to keep alive and eventually to develop a whole civilization on that Water planet along with eventual space travel. And eventually Flame became a member of the Galactic Time Guard.
Imagine a space craft that contains water for the octopus to survive in traveling through Space.
This is a pretty amazing concept in itself.
