to clarify I just realized a "Kenning" is a figure of speach and OFER HRON RADE is one of these figures of speech

So, a Kenning is a way of speaking about something and a Kenning also in this specific instance is OFER HRON RADE (which means OVER THE WHALES ROAD). 

But, a Kenning can be many of these types of sayings and is not limited to OFER HRON RADE. 

So, OFER means over and HRON means I guess Whale and RADE means road in this particular saying which is ICELANDIC? I'm not sure at this point about the last thing I just wrote or not.

But then, how many of us have actually studied "Beowulf" in it's original Language and I haven't studied enough of Linguistics in general to be proficient in any of this?
