Presently at about 11 am Thursday it's 76 degrees on Maui where we are on the ocean

We visited the Maui Ocean Center which is closer to Kihei. I realized I hadn't really been over to Kihei side since around 1990 yesterday which was surprising to me because I used to snorkel a lot a Makena  Beach with my family then. However, it's also true that in 1990 I would have been only 42 years old and still in pretty good physical condition before I almost died of a heart virus in 1998 and 1999 when I was around 50.

After reading the information below I realized I likely was snorkeling in Makena Landing park not on Makena beach itself.

Here is more about Makena Beach near Kihei, Maui. begin quotes:

Makena Beach, also known as "Big Beach," is a large, picturesque beach in South Maui famous for its wide stretch of golden sand and powerful waves. While it offers beautiful views and is a popular spot for experienced surfers, bodysurfers, and skimboarders, it can be dangerous for less experienced swimmers due to its significant shore break and should be entered with caution. The area also includes the nearby Makena Landing Park, which is calmer and excellent for snorkeling and diving.
