Unless people create their own future they don't have one.
This is the best way to put this.
Often your parents want you to have a specific future but that doesn't always make a person happy.
Your girlfriend or boyfriend want you to have a specific future. But, often that won't make you happy either.
Unless you make your own choices often you won't survive the choices you make very long or at all.
This is what I learned in my 20s.
I learned that for me at least becoming an opportunist all the time was always the best path for me.
Learning how to move forward in life can be very hard and many people don't survive this.
However, just one or a few good choices can make your life worth living.
I struggled a lot in my 20s but by my 30s I was actually pretty happy from about 30 to 37 when my father died.
Then I struggled a lot with my father passing away and this went on until I almost died at age 50 myself.
But, almost dying myself actually saved me.
It took me out of middle Aged Crazy where you are really attached to being young.
This being attached to being young forever is really a killer.
What I mean by this is that one of the groups of people that tend to die a lot early are people who are trying to be 25 when they are 50 years old or older.
This actually kills many people because they cannot age gracefully so they die.
So, for me, almost dying at 50 made me slow down. It made me retire. It made me a different person than I was before.
IF I hadn't slowed down I would have died at 50 or sometime between then and now at 77 1/2 years old now.
By being forced to retire by my health it actually saved my life and has allowed me to live to be my present age so far.
By God's Grace
