You become a better writer by writing a little bit every day

I can remember in 1990 when I was going and taking a couple of courses at College of the Siskiyous after returning with my family from living in Hawaii.

I took a logics class and a Public Speaking Class.

The kids in this class were upset by myself and a friend of my wife's who was sharing a ride to me to these two classes then at the college.

They were upset that we two were in the class because we were in our 40s and they felt they couldn't compete with people who were business owners who had both had a lot of college. They were right. They couldn't compete with us.

But, what did we have that they didn't?

Experience in writing papers for over 40 years? in our lives?

This is only part of it. Most of what you learn in life cannot usefully be written about. It's the same with what it is like to drive a car or fly a plane. You have to just do it to understand many things about these things.

The same is exactly true with writing.

So, what I always recommend to people is to write a little every day if you want to be a good writer.

This doesn't mean you will be able to publish books and make that work for you, it only means you will become a much better writer.

And I find becoming a better writer I become more articulate in every way too speaking to people about literally anything.

I choose my words very carefully because now I am a wordsmith from blogging since 1999 in June.
