For me, I began to realize that I wanted to become fully enligthened in this lifetime at age 15. I wanted this because I remembered being a doctor, a lawyer, A carpenter, a farmer, a Soldier etc. in many previous lifetimes and I had had enough of that. So, it seemed to me that I could help myself and all mankind more if I simply worked to become completely enlightened like Jesus and Buddha and other Saints of All Religions on earth and beyond.
However, I realized I likely wasn't going to be a celibate person and that I likely should raise a family. This worked for me in life but this wasn't easy either. But, what a Yogi means is "To yoke" like when one yokes a bull or cow to a cart or a horse to a cart. Yoga actually means the type of discipline you use to become fully enlightened.
And I have found that over time being a householder Yogi has been the best path for me to enlightenment for many different reasons.
My 8 year old grandson was talking about a meaning to their purpose.
I told him that I found a meaning to my purpose in all my children and grandchildren.
He looked at me very intently when I said this to him.
