The first thing to know is that your body consumes 90% of it's energy digesting food. Think about that for a moment. So, what if you didn't feed it any food and ONLY water for 18 hours a day?
This is what I try to do every day. Why?
Because if you do this from about 6 pm at night when you might eat dinner and you don't eat again until. noon the next day your body can repair itself instead of digesting food all the time. This then lengthens your lifetime by doing this regularly.
For me, this is what I basically do every day. I also find that since I have edema from CHF that I only have to take furosemide once a week to bring my water weight down about 9 pounds in one night. By doing this I extremely reduce the amount of furosemide I have to take on a weekly basis down to only one dose per week usually.
As long as I reduce salt consumption and drink almost no water at all I can do this ongoing and feel most of the time healthier at 77 than I did at age 37 years of age.
So, it is in some ways the elixer of life itself in my life.
I had to stop fasting 4 to 7 days on things like Organic Watermelon at least once a year in my late 40s because my metabolism changed at this point. The other problem for me was that I had jogged until I was 42 to 45 years of age and I had to stop doing this because my feet hurt too much. I had feet xrays and found out that I had hundreds of microfractures likely from jumping off of roofs from age 10 to 15 years old when we would dare each other to do things like this and this is likely where the fractures came from when I was just a silly boy like many of you have been taking physical risks all the time like jumping off of roofs, jumping my bicycle about 5 feet into the air and things like this that I did all the time from about age 7 ongoing and then riding motorcycles and jumping them into the air about 8 feet above the bottom of the rear knobby wheel of my dualsport 1974 Honda XL 250 motorcycle. This was the most manueverable motocycle especially off road that I ever owned even though I didn't always feel safe on a freeway with it because you usually need 500 to 650 cc to feel safe on a freeway to get away from Cars and trucks that just don't see you because their brains are looking only for other cars and trucks.
Also, the fasting 4 to 7 days a year (usually in the summers when you can more easily get organic Watermelons) also reduces plaque in your arteries that can lead to clogging of the arteries and open heart surgery or something like that and 30 days of a organic Watermelon Fast will usually completely clear and clean our your arteries and prevent many stints and heart operations to do with clogged arteries by the way.
But, for now, I find that I can still do intermittent Fasting but not fasting one or more days at a time because I need to take medicines as a 77 year old person. However, I can feel doing this lengthening my life and increasing my health any time i do this.
I also try only to drink water when my mouth gets dry which also reduces the need for furosemide almost completely too. Furosemide also called "Lasix" as a common name is a diuretic which sheds the body in a quick way of unwanted water to help keep you alive when you have edema. (feet swelling and lower legs swelling from too much water for heart to pump in your feet and lower legs.
IF you let this sort of thing get to be a problem then you begin to cough because the water starts to drown you in your lungs. So, taking furosemide will save you from drowning in your lungs.
Anyway, I find intermittent Fasting really useful and might help take both you and me to 100 years old or more.
