So, about 10 inches of rain is supposed to fall on most of California between right now (Tuesday night around 8:30PM until Thursday night some time (Christmas day).
Already our neighbors have lost power on the next street up. I can see that their normal lights are out. Also, we just had a brown out but I think I would call it instead "A 5 second Black out" My 7 year old grandson has never been through a black out so it might be an experience for him. We just turned up our Central heating to 72 degrees to warm the house up for the night in case we lose heating along with the power. Though we have a fireplace we don't have a cast iron wood stove to utilize wood heat to the max like I always did in Mt. Shasta while living there off and on from 1974 to 1992 with my family. So, at 24 mile per hour constant winds with gusts likely to 45 miles per hour already tonight might be pretty interesting.
My Grandson and family are watching a Grinch movie right now so that might be interesting too.
However, my Yamaha Generator that I bought from a motorcycle shop a few years ago can generate enough power to power likely two refrigerators (one in the kitchen and one in the Garage and at least one light and Wifi and Cable TV and our Flatscreen. So, mostly what we deal with is getting too cold over a few days. One Blackout the house went down to about 58 degrees which is low for people 70 and 77 years old. But, if you are younger it's less of a problem like when I was young.
However, if storms get bad enough we could lose Cable when mountain receivers go down or blow down and the same with Wifi and sometimes even Cell Service as well. At this point the only point of contact without driving out of here would be a land line (as long as those lines didn't go down as well).
