The first Star Trek Movie came out in 1979 and I saw this one with friends in either San Marcos or Oceanside near San Diego

I had gotten married in 1974 and my wife and I had started living together in 1973 and a month after we married my son was born. So, at this point my son was 5 years old in 1979. He is now 51 years old here in 2025 and lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and almost 12 year old son now.

It marked the franchise's cinematic debut, focusing on exploration and humanity's place in the cosmos, though it was known for its slower, more cerebral pace compared to later films.
