I suppose this partly comes from thinking like an Anthropologist like I was trained in the University environment.
define anthropology:
- the study of human societies and cultures and their development."they examine lesser-known findings in archeology and anthropology to highlight all that we don't know about human history"
- the study of human biological and physiological characteristics and their evolution."I really loved psychology and anthropology and studying primate behavior and cognition"
So, if Anthropology is the study of human societies and cultures and their development you have to sort of start by what they have always believed in. And there are many ways people believed and still believe and no two people completely agree on this usually worldwide.
However, most people keep these beliefs to themselves because they are afraid to tell people what they really believe usually, (especially if what they believe is different in any way from the churches or religions they might be raised in along the way.
So, if you hide what you believe from those around you you are completely normal. It's a survival stance to keep yourself alive if you do this.
However, if you surround yourselves with people of similar beliefs to your own this becomes less and less of a problem.
It's only really a problem if you are living around people that if you told them what you believe that they would kill you or harm you in some way.
This is why it often isn't useful to tell your beliefs to people when you are traveling to other countries that might have completely different beliefs than your personal beliefs.
Your personal survival might be at stake if you reveal some of your beliefs.
Luckily, At least for now here in the U.S. we are still allowed to believe whatever we want to.
At least for now.
