Note: I wonder how many other things the AIs of the world have wrong along with the Date of this incident? I was questioning my own memory until I talked to my wife. However, we had just bought a 2022 car and we wouldn't have bought a new 2022 Car in 2023. So, between my memory and the year car we bought and my wife I realized the AI was actually wrong about the year and it wouldn't give into the Truth like a person might.
I can see how real errors that are important to people's physical survival might be ignored by AI TOO! end note:
At the time we had just done the 5 hour drive from Lake Tahoe and were trying to get to Twin Falls that night. We were on our way to the first leg of our trip after Lake Tahoe to the Tetons. However, when we got off the Freeway to Elko, Nevada I couldn't stop the car because I was sliding on living and dead Locusts. (Big Surprise) while we were there there were many near misses of other cars and trucks too who couldn't stop because of living or dead locusts being squashed by tires. Then we stopped at the gas station and women especially would see these creatures if they were still alive and scream because it upset them. The dying of them the living of them because it was sort of like a horror movie we were all in with thousands and thousands of Locusts everywhere. So, in order to not be in an accident in our new car we got back on the freeway and got out of there before something else bad happened. But, sliding on locust guts to get back on the freeway was a very strange experience too for us. However, we did make it to Twin Falls that night which is a 7 1/2 hour to 8 hour drive from Lake Tahoe, California so doable for most people in one day.
begin quotes:
In June 2023, Elko, Nevada experienced a "biblical" infestation of Mormon crickets.
These flightless, cannibalistic insects—which are biologically
shield-backed katydids—swarmed the city, blanketing highways, homes, and
public buildings like the local hospital.
The
invasion was largely driven by an unusually wet winter and spring,
which delayed the hatch of the eggs and led to a massive, concentrated
migration.
The infestation caused several notable issues in the community:
- Traffic Hazards: When crushed under vehicle tires, the crickets created a slick, grease-like residue on the asphalt. Combined with afternoon rain, this caused dangerous, slippery road conditions and several accidents.
Coverage of the scale and bizarre nature of the swarm can be found in full reports from CNN and the Associated Press.
