Once again this is not what straight HTML looks like. Instead it is a variation used by Wikicode for Wikipedia

I think when Wikipedia started they must not have had encoders available for people adding content. So, they created a code specifically for writing a lot of text in an easier way more suitable for Wikipedia. Then you have thousands or more people adding information to Wikipedia using this unique form of coding to create the amazing Wikipedia versions worldwide in many different languages now. Also, at least on my pages you can usually translate the pages into almost any language you want to as well using the Google Translate app to the upper right of your screen on my pages.

However, if you do use Google Translate don't expect a 100% perfect translation from English to whatever the language simply because different languages emphasize different things and express things and emotions usually differently too. English is one of the best business and scientific languages on earth when it is used for that and was developed a lot for trading when ships came to England from various lands overseas to trade with them there over the last 1000 to 2000 years because those coming spoke different languages than the locals usually.
