Today is another foggy day at the beach in Northern California

However, my wife had to get up early for a physical at the hospital so she called me and told me she wanted to go out for breakfast. So, we did this. I noticed a seagull on the peak of an older house across from this restaurant because we were sitting outside but dressed warm enough for the cooler weather today

The high today was only 60 degrees which I know seems strange for any summer almost anywhere but this kind of weather is why the Redwoods like it along the coast from Big Sur up into Oregon too. The Redwoods especially get more moisture from the high and low fog than they do from Rain I was studying recently which is interesting. In this sense they are almost more like succulents like you often find along oceans with this kind of weather where they do better with water moisture than direct rain sometimes.

High right now in Glendale 89 degrees (I grew up from age 8 to 21 here).

Redding is 99 right now going to 100

Temperature in Sacramento 94 going to 95

Temperature in Palm Springs 107 going to 108

Temperature in Death Valley 112 going to 114 degrees.

High in Austin Texas 97

When I look at these temperatures I guess 60 degrees sounds pretty good with the worst thing right now here is Sneaker Waves. But at least at this temperature most people (except for board surfers) likely aren't getting into the water much. Hopefully. So they can more easily stay alive and survive the Sneaker waves.

More about sneaker waves locally below. If you have ever faced a 10 foot wave unless you duck under it it can be quite serious if you are in the water anywhere in California. It's why the lifeguards are active all over the California coast right now saving people. Because even if you duck underneath a 10 foot wave the question becomes can you surface the ocean after that or even know which way is up if the wave is all jumbled up. Depending upon where you are in the water all kinds of diverse conditions can exist especially like right now with a Hurricane off of Baja California.

By the way beach erosion is usually in the winter not the summer here in Califronia. There can be up to about 10 feet vertically less sand some places on the California coast. However, if there is an average I would say the erosion every winter is usually around 5 to 7 feet vertically year on year here in California.
 
So, beach erosion in the summers is usually caused by Hurricanes and storms far out to sea in the Pacific Ocean.
