It is difficult to show kindness to others if you don't show it to yourself first

So, demonstrating kindness to oneself so one feels kind towards others too is one of the keys to enlightenment.

However, without integrity (Self Respect) in one's actions towards oneself and others it is difficult to show kindness to anyone.

So, many times one must start with integrity if possible in one's practice of kindness towards oneself and others.

Peace comes from integrity and kindness towards oneself and all others.

Kindness to oneself and others is the very basis of civilization itself

Learning to be compassionate as an individual towards oneself and others helps bring civilization and longevity into one's life and the lives of those around us.

This is why learning compassion is a worthwhile goal because it helps civilization continue to exist and prosper.

The world often is not a kind place and so we must create the world ourselves each new generation. IF we don't the world will consume us and kill us all young.

Learning compassion towards oneself and others is a way to continue to have human beings alive and prospering on earth for thousands to millions of years to come.

There likely won't be many of us left in 2100 AD the way things are presently going. But, without compassion for ourselves and others there will be none left at all.

I think writing should always be about Knowledge, Wisdom and Kindness

Sometimes what you are writing about combines all three and sometimes you are writing or quoting or blogging to inform people about what is happening around them in the world.

When you are addressing knowledge what you find is often not kind or happy but the awareness of this knowledge might also inform and in that sense also save lives.

So, writing about knowledge has a way of saving lives or making lives sometimes work better around the world.

Also, sometimes I'm writing about all three at once so knowledge, wisdom and kindness is all combined in a format of what I write.

I always try to write in this format of knowledge, wisdom and kindness because it appears that this is how civilizations have gone on this long and will be allowed to continue on into the future.

If you share knowledge and wisdom about how to survive the present times we are in then it helps people figure out better how to survive their lives.

Then Wisdom is about finding meaning to one's life and kindness is about compassion and helpfulness which are the very essence of all things good regarding civilization worldwide  and always has been.

Kindness

Kindness towards oneself and others is a necessary part of long term survival. Some people might get away with being all gruff and angry a lot of the time. But, usually when you direct this at others people will redirect it back at you too and sometimes it might get violent. So, kindness towards oneself and others is always the best policy for the long run.

But, it doesn't mean "Be Stupid!" It means be practical so you can survive any situation you find yourself in.

But, whenever possible develop compassion towards yourself and others because this is always the key to a long lifetime wherever you are on earth.

A part of this is try to associate with people also that believe in compassion towards themselves and others too. This way it is much easier to live the new lifestyle you are choosing to live.

The Tibetans have a saying about all this: "Friends become enemies and enemies become friends through time. Because of this it is in one's long term best interests to always be kind to all beings."

Kindness

When people explode in rage and anger like the man in Alabama and the man in Germany we all wonder how these two got to this completely out of control place. Was it diet, was it not thinking the right thoughts, was it abuse by others? It's hard to say. Most likely it was a combination of factors including health problems and others.

The Tibetans have a saying that I like, "Be kind to all beings because friends become enemies and enemies become friends."

Having lived 60 years now I've seen this sort of thing in action. Especially after having been married to three women(one at a time) for about 33 years total of marriage I have seen this saying in action. Believe me. People change and sometimes it is all one can do to try to keep it together and try to remain calm in incredibly trying circumstances.

When I look back on my life I have been incredibly lucky. Obviously, these two men that killed all those people haven't been as lucky as you and I or they would still be alive and all those people and destroyed families would be alive and together still.

Always remember to be kind to yourself and others. One never knows when one will face something that one is unable to cope with. Especially these days.

So, in the mean time be kind to yourself and ALL beings because friends become enemies and enemies become friends. It is very strange to have to tell you this saying is absolutely true and why it is necessary to be kind and to show respect to yourself and all beings. You never know what kindness or respect will save your life or the life of your family, especially these days.

I pray this a lot and it gives me great peace:

May all beings attain bliss and the cause of bliss
May all beings be free of suffering and the cause of suffering
May all beings never be without the supreme bliss that is free
from all near and far all grasping and aversion.

Blessings to you and to all beings in the universe
