For me, this wasn't something that happened overnight. It likely started when I learned to soul travel in my late teens and early 20s. I began to experience myself as the whole universe at once as a way to "Become One with God". So, it was a way to commune with God and to experience all time and space all at once all the time. So, if you ever died suddenly it really wouldn't be that big of a shock because you already were experiencing yourself as the whole universe and experiencing being "At One with God" all the time anyway.
In this meditation you can do 24 hours a day by experiencing yourself as the whole universe all beings you need to take care of and to help because they are also a part of you. In experiencing the world in this way simultaneously to experiencing yourself in a human body on earth I find lessens the harm the world can do to my sensibilities and yet if you can be in balance with this over time it is quite useful.
Because you don't freak out as easily because you have this infinite reservoir of experience and wisdom and calmness to always draw upon. So, before when people would do or say something that would ruin your whole day or life they no longer have this power ever really. So, you might be really upset for awhile but it soon goes away.
However, you cannot use this meditation as a way to escape from reality, you are only using it as a way of "cushioning" reality so reality doesn't accidentally kill you in a heart attack or stroke one day.
It is the ultimate in "Don't panic" because panic after 40 or 50 often causes death because the physical body can no longer take panic often and survive. So, it is a way to create longevity while in a physical body too.
