Strange Times

I was walking and talking with my son on a coastal mountain trail today. He was saying how that all the military hardware of the U.S. and Europe is bankrupting NATO countries. However, I said to him that all military weapons ever developed have eventually been used except for nuclear and poison gas arsenals worldwide. We both realized that Eisenhower's prophetic words as he left office have come to pass where the military industrial complex has bankrupted the western world. However, if you look at the world from a military perspective it becomes something different. The countries in history with the most overwhelming military arsenals usually win. What I mean by this is historically what usually happens is that the biggest armies and arsenals don't get bankrupt because they have the capacity historically to take what they need. And likely this is not different today.

But if you look at the way things have changed power wise on the ground at the bottom of the pyramid you have the people of the world, then you have the governments of the world, then you have the corporations of the world and then you have the military powers of the world. Though it is true in the end what the people of the world will put up with is what can or actually will happen. But if the top of the pyramid (as you are seeing in Egypt) is the military then most groups of people won't stand up to their military because they want to stay alive.

So, the dynamic today is different today in some ways. And when you add to this mix the tech aspect of today's advanced warfare you also have to factor in Artificial intelligence in weapons of war and of just how much or how little autonomy Artificial intelligence governed weapons of war actually have in all instances.

Then if you add to the mix how many armies on earth are actually veteran fighters (veteran fighters meaning battle tested troops) because troops don't mean much until they have seen battle and have become hardened enough to actually survive battles ongoing and have adjusted to this life.

So, given all this the only battle hardened troops mostly are guerrilla groups around the world and the U.S. and NATO troops who are battle hardened worldwide right now. And untested troops for the most part wouldn't stand a chance against veterans in most situations. So, it makes sense that most nations (if they are wealthy enough) will prefer to use robotically controlled devices where nerve and will don't matter at all.
