If we didn't have a system of property ownership people would not have fought and died for America and our Democracy in a Republic could not have survived. We have become successful as a nation because of the right to own property and to basically do with that property as we wished since the end of the Revolutionary war.
In many countries people won't fight for their rights like people do in this one. Why is that? One reason is that in a lot of those countries property even if they own it can easily be taken away from them with no recourse. Under these conditions if you don't have the right to own or to develop or to protect your property what do you have to fight for?
So, the loss of real property during the last 5 years or so is a threat to our country in deeper ways than you might think. How much wealth have people lost since 2007?

So, I guess we can call this a threat to our system of government based upon rights including the right to own property when that level of wealth (including property) dropped by 40% already just since 2007.
And we might say that that 40% loss by Americans likely dropped their desire to fight for their rights and property about that much too. What do you think?
