To Make it to 100

Feeling very in touch with my own mortality lately, I thought it might be useful to think about what it actually might take to make it to 100 for people here on earth.

1. Adaptability- This to me seems logically to be the number one thing you would need. However, there are always exceptions to every rule. For example, I always thought exercise and a good diet might be useful. However, I have heard of people who don't really exercise and only eat Flat bread and water and nothing else who have made it to 100. So, there are always exceptions.

2. Maybe before I put down Adaptability I should have asked, "Do you actually want to get to 100?"
I suppose there could be a whole lot of caveats a person could put here like: "Yes. If I have a high enough quality of mental and physical health, live in a nice place around friends and relatives and people I like. So, caveats like that might be important too in anyone actually deciding to try to get to 100.

3. Intelligence and compassion for oneself and for others. This would be important because for example, I am always being talked to as a living Dinosaur by my 16 year old daughter now that I'm 64. It is as if she thinks I lived in the dark ages or something. Whereas the Beatles and the Rolling stones are not over 5 years older than me and I remember in my early to late teens when they both became popular and first came to the U.S. So, you are going to see 5 or 6 20 year generations pass before your eyes. I personally see the changes in 5 or 7 years of increments when I actually take the time to think about it. The generational changes seem to come in waves. Like late 50s to about 1965 typified by Elvis, 1966 to 71 Surfers and Hippies typified by the Beach Boys and the Beatles and Rolling Stones. 1971 to 1978. I'm not sure how to describe this time but all sorts of amazing rock groups like the Eagles, Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin, The Who etc and what came to be known as Yuppies (young upwardly mobile preppies). Which upset hippies because they were more entrepreneurial and less idealistic.  So, basically all your generation is going to grow old along with you. Can you deal with that?

So, basically, how do you get to be 100? One moment and day at a time lived to the best of your ability while helping yourselves, your kids and anyone else you meet to the best lifetime possible.
