Cover up Computer Cameras when not using them

My son has been a tech since he was about 12 to 15 regarding computers. I just sort of thought this went along with him having about 150 IQ. I tend to be more street wise and technically proficient and since about 2000 he knows more about computers generally than I do because I don't spend enough hours trying to learn about tech things like he still tends to. I think at a certain point I realized that things go obsolete after 1 to 5 years generally and to really drill down into any one technology won't help you in 5 years. So, I just try to be able to use technology rather than trying to understand the software and hardware from an engineering point of view like I used to. I still understand how technology works, but for example, I learned to write HTML (hyper text markup language) that was the first language of the Internet. However, now there is almost an unlimited set of more advanced versions also compatible with html web programming. So, I still tend to think in HTML and don't really try to write things in other versions. So, it is sort of like that. You used to be able in some Windows explorer versions to go up to "View" (usually the 4th word icon from the left top of the screen) and click on it and then click on "Source" and be able to see displayed the entire html programming script for any page you were viewing. But, on newer versions you can't do that.

Anyway, he was telling me that I should cover up all the video cameras on anything that touches the internet now. He said that it wasn't just computers that you need to cover the video feed on but also Ipads and other like devices as well as your smartphones. Basically anything that has an internet connection makes you vulnerable.

You are also being listened to by any device that you can skype on as well. However, trying to police that I really wouldn't know how to go about doing that as well without disabling all internal microphones for every device and do you really want to make your microphone in your phone for example, not work.

But, whenever you aren't using the video cameras in any of your devices it likely is time now to cover them up with a little piece of scotch tape with a little piece of paper covering every video device you own connected to the Internet Because you don't know who is watching you from what part of the world at this point and whether or not they might want to harm you. It isn't just governments you need to be concerned about. It is everyone from Mafias, malevolent corporations and truly insane people that might hurt or kill or rape you and your families. So, protect yourselves because otherwise, who will?

Note: Black electrical tape might be less visible if you use that or even white or another color of tape depending upon what color your phone is and what color that part of your screens are. However, the glue on whatever tape you use likely you don't want directly over your video camera as that would lessen the quality of whatever pictures you take video or stills in the future. So, you want to make sure something like (a piece of paper or paper towel without any tape glue actually covers your video cameras in your device and then the tape could glue to the right and the left around where you put the paper or piece of paper towel under the tape "clear or colored" your choice).

Some of your more technically proficient might find a way to turn off the microphones in your devices as well but if and when you want to use them you need a way to turn them on too. For example, phone's often have a "mute" setting that might work but if you forget to turn "mute" off no one will be able to hear you when you make or receive a phone call.
