It is important to understand that we likely are at or near the highest level of population that Earth will see for several thousand years at least. The reason for this likely could be summed up in a few words like "Global Warming" or severe "Global Climate Change". So, either now or by the year 2040 we will begin to see world population in a gradual then likely a more severe decline. I expect the way things are going now to see about 1/2 the total population on Earth that there is now by 2100.
Unfortunately, this likely won't happen by itself. People likely aren't going to leave the Earth (unless they are old and infirm) without a good fight. So, expect to see "Resource Wars" on local, national and on International levels as the years progress. I think accepting and understanding that this is coming is healthy for all mankind to understand.
Realizing that the CO2 released in all of human history so far cannot be stopped at present in it's short and long term effects. So, preparing for the worst is how those who are going to survive will actually survive all this. The others likely will not survive that are not educated and informed enough about what is actually coming to all of Earth now for at least the next 300 years or so.
Even if all CO2 and Methane on earth stopped right now still we have the next 300 years or so to deal with of the effects of all of it in the atmosphere so far. And if Methane and CO2 isn't slowed down or stopped there is the possibility that human life on Earth could end except for people who move underground.
If you look at what people said about Death Valley over this weekend about how they almost couldn't breathe because it was like breathing air out of a furnace, this is the future for regions nearest the Equator around the earth as well as deserts within the next 100 to 300 years. This won't be all the time of course. But it will be like this some of the time. So, learning what Death Valley is like at 129 degrees will prepare people for what it might be like many more places in the future for a few days at a time all over the equatorial and desert regions of the earth.
As people relocate more to more Northern and more Southern Climates here on Earth, many people will stay where it is 130 degrees or more in equatorial and desert regions of Earth. Life likely can go on there even though growing food might be difficult in the hottest times of the year. Living at night or even farming at night goes on even many places in the U.S. now to avoid the heat. So, this "living and working at night likely will become more common and retreating underground into cooler places likely will become more normal in places at the heat moves further northwards and further Southwards as time moves forward into more global Climate changes.
Also, birth rates worldwide likely will continue to reduce.
Here is some of the research I did into World Wide Birth rates and where this is going as well.
2.42 births per woman worldwide
