Writing

There are several kinds of writing:

1. This kind of writing you are trying to make money from what you write. Of all the kinds of writing this is the hardest and most onerous because unless you are really good to begin with and are writing to specific needs of people who might want to buy your writing and are really good at editing what you do the likelihood is you won't succeed at this.

However, there are always exceptions.

2. Writing as therapy. When writing as a therapy you aren't trying to have anyone at all read it but you write as a way to heal your wounds in your life. This is very powerful writing but be careful of showing anything like this to anyone.

3. Writing as fun. Often this is what Blogging is about. You aren't trying to make money from what you are writing. Instead you are writing as sort of a joyful thing to do even though writing is always sort of a discipline even though it can in some ways be like playing the piano, a guitar or other instrument or even singing in some ways or even writing lyrics for songs like I used to do in my teens and twenties.

Editing:

For me, editing is the most onerous thing I ever have to do whether it is spelling or context or making sure the HTML programming comes out okay or whether things are coming out right so I have to delete something I worked a long time on.

Every project doesn't automatically come out right. Editing doesn't always come out right. So, if you spend several days on a project be sure to keep multiple copies of it so you have it at different stages of editing. And find ways to name just how successfully you edited different versions on the top before you save it and put it away.

IF you get to a copy that you like that feels good to you you have to print out a copy to keep in a drawer and to read every once in an while to inspire you to write more in the future. And if you feel comfortable about this and don't plan to make money with selling it, then publish it if you wish online at your blog or archive so other people can share in your fun of writing something you like.
