Maleficent (2014)

  1. This is a very profound movie. My daughter said when she first saw the 1959 one it didn't make any sense to her. However, this one makes complete sense to her now in 2014 (but also now she is 25 and not a child anymore). Maleficent is more realistic in this movie because she is both hero and villain. (But she is not the only one like this in the movie).

In this sense the old and new King and Maleficent at all ages are  more believable than the 1959 one which was very dualistic. This movie is more non-dualistic the way people actually tend to be in real life.

People who are powerful whether they are Kings or "The Queen of the Faeries" Maleficent are in the end neither good or bad they are just beings trying to survive the best they can and protect their families (their tribes and kingdoms) the best they can.

It is when different groups of beings don't understand each other enough that problems arise for everyone.
