No matter the causes most people are the same (if they aren't on some kind of drugs).
So, the mind set might be something like this: "I want to kill myself but I don't want to die alone. I want to take people with me into death so I don't die alone."
So, it might be as simple as that. But, then the public totally freaks out when this happens.
Can you stop people killing themselves? Probably not.
Will making all guns illegal stop this?
No. Then they will use spears, knives, crossbows and bows and arrows and do the same thing or even with clubs or karate chops or whatever.
So, as long as there is this mind set in some children who want to die no matter what this is going to continue.
Another problem people aren't looking at is overpopulation, bullying, low self worth, bad diets, bad relationships, serious health issues (cancer, epilepsy, Cerebral palsy, mental retardation, Autism etc. etc. etc.).
Also, if you look seriously at what just over population does to mammals is makes some male mammals (including young humans under 30-males) want to kill their sexual competitors so they have less males to compete with for mating.
Most of the public isn't educated enough to understand all these demographics and even if they were I don't think there will be anything people can do but pull their kids out of public schools. (Because this isn't happening in private schools that I know if yet).
But, it is happening on college campuses of all kinds.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
