The best example of this likely is Afghanistan. No country has ever succeeded in causing order there or conquering this country EVER in human history. Soviet Russia tried during the 1980s and the result partly was the cause of the collapse of the Soviet Union as well as the loss of most majority Islamic territory of Soviet Russia as well.
Also, by the way, what did going into Iraq or Afghanistan accomplish? Not much. How much did it cost? Trillions of dollars that harmed the U.S. and it's people.
To me, it is like taking a sledge hammer to a biting fly. First of all, the sledge hammer might be effective on a nation that is fighting a conventional war. But, not in an middle eastern nation used to tribal wars for thousands of years. Then with a sledge hammer you are going to miss the fly and likely then it is going to breed into 100 or 1000 flies and then those children flies are going to be pissed off that you killed one of their relatives. So, you didn't get the fly with the sledge hammer and not only that you now have 1000 flies wanting to bit you, and their children, and their children too and so on and so on.
And trying to install some kind of familiar government to the Russian or the Americans isn't going to work either. In Iraq we overthrew Saddam Hussein and killed him even though he fought Iran for us. But, we didn't let him win against Iran because he was almost as bad as Iran. Thousands and thousands of Iraqis and Iranians died in this war including many from being gassed and from land mines during the 1980s. Russia was driven out of Afghanistan by Osama Bin Laden and other CIA paid operatives like him then in the 1980s.
To even contemplate U.S. and Russian history in the Middle East is kind of insane on multiple levels.
To contemplate all this we are left with the conclusion that it just isn't useful to try to control any events that occur in the middle east for a western mind. No matter what the U.S., Europe or Russia or China do there it is always a mess still and getting worse by the day from a western perspective.
So, we are left with the idea that: "The only people that might have a chance to solve the problems in the Middle East live there already and have for thousands of years already because no one else from other cultures is ever really going to understand what life there is all about."
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
