to prevent 'crash and grab' thefts

Related to Crash-and-grab burglars hitting high-end stores in suburbs and Chicago  -- you just know that that stores will start putting in those car-blocking concrete or metal pillars, called bollards, to stop these brazen thefts. And that in a few years we won't even really notice them anymore.

end quote from:

Coming soon, I'm sure: Bollards outside of high-end stores ...

Even lower end stores could put 8 inch aluminum or metal pipes set deep into cement at at least 3 to 4 feet high in front of their stores like you see on multi-story mall parking where they don't want motor homes to park there and collapse the structure from too much weight. They use these in the form of loops that are too short for motor homes to park on these multi story mall parking structures. IN the case of smaller stores they could put these in the front and in the back of their stores which would destroy any pick up or car trying to drive through their store or even someone drunk who drove through accidentally. So, it would both prevent theft and would also prevent deaths of store owners if someone drove a car or truck towards their store with the intent of driving into the store through the front or back of the store.  However, because they are usually spaced about at least 3 to 4 feet apart this means a motorcycle could still drive through the front of the store but most people aren't crazy enough to do that because it would either destroy the rider or the motorcycle or it would bend the wheel so the motorcycle wouldn't ride right after that.

Also, if you use a metal hollow pipe and then fill it with cement and re-bars this would also strengthen it too and you could put a safety metal cap on it too. So, if it were already buried three to four feet deep into cement and then was at least 3 to 4 feet high, unless you were driving something as heavy and strong as a Brinks truck or heavier it would never get through that and ever be driven after that.
