I think the closest we have come to someone like this was President Bill Clinton who also was a sex symbol similar to Putin. However, in our culture we don't completely control the press like Putin does. So, the Russian experience might be more like he was a Brad Pitt or something like this because of all his publicity. Also, since Putin is a single man since his divorce he likely has the cream of the crop of young Russian women to choose from.

This sort of combination would make his ego gigantic and this makes complete sense with his actions now too. He is believing his own propaganda which is kind of scary for the world.

They say all world leaders live in a "Bubble" provided by those around them. However, Putin's Bubble just might end life on earth the way he is presently going.

Putin's cult of personality is similar to the present and previous leaders in North Korea.
