Self driving vehicles on Land, Air and Sea?

Though this might sound initially as a good thing and though it's true it might make everything more affordable that you now buy shipped this way, you also have to see the real cost to human lives worldwide in this too.

For example, UBER started in business with the Idea of being a world leader in self driving taxis. And this might happen with Google and UBER and Apple all competing in this business worldwide because Apple likely will have it's own line of self driving cars by 2020 along with Google Worldwide.

However, if you look at the main job done by men worldwide it is driving trucks and taxis. If this job is taken away from them starting in the developed nations first what will happen to all these men and their families?

Will there be jobs to replace these jobs or will these men and their families simply starve to death or become criminals or terrorists directly as a result of self driving cars and trucks.

And if you have self driving cars and trucks you could also have self driving ships and planes too. Even now most military planes in the U.S. have the capacity of either being flown remotely or by internal AI to bring the plane down safely or relatively safely whether the pilot is dead or bailed out already.

So, now just think of how great a financial displacement this is going to be just for the taxi drivers around the world during the next 20 to 50 years of the introduction of self driving vehicles.

It kind of makes me wonder if companies like GM and Ford and Chrysler will still be in business because they don't seem to be going in the direction of self driving vehicles much yet.

However, I personally would not ride in a taxi without a person at the controls to take over in an emergency or a self driving car that didn't have emergency controls for me to take over if there was a malfunction because I prefer being alive to not being alive.

Just because cars or trucks can self drive doesn't mean that is what they will always do because they can just as easily self crash without warning. So, imagine if there are no controls for you or another designated driver to take over in an emergency?
