You can see Lake (or Loch) Ness with Inverness barely visible at the very top to the right somewhat. I have been to Inverness in 1999 and again in 2011 and driven throug the city of Inverness and along the lake and walked down to the lake with some members of my family then (my wife and two daughters and one of their boyfriends).

It is located in Northern and somewhat Central Scotland if you drive north from Edinburgh through Sterling and on northwards I believe. It is a very beautiful drive.

One of the central routes is through Stirling and Perth and Pitlochry. I bought a really nice felt hat for cold weather made from wool in Pitlochry. It is an amazing little town where you think you are a century or more ago when you visit. Don't miss it if you are traveling north to Inverness.

Another place I really loved is Aviemore in the Cairngorm mountains which is near  where people go to ski in the winter in Scotland. I stayed here both in 1999 with my older daughter and mother when she was still alive and then again with my daughters and wife and one of their boyfriends in 2011 for a few days then too. It was marvelous. In 2011 they had built a new funicular I believe it is called which is like a very steep train ride used like a ski lift for skiers and other tourists throughout the year.
