The answer to this has to be:
Maybe.
The army acting as protector of their secular democracy is now gone possibly forever. The advocates of Secular democracy outside of an Islamic state dictatorship have all been imprisoned who are leaders who still live in Turkey at this point. Whether you think ERdogan staged this coup or not you will have to admit it gave him the excuse to arrest anyone who opposed him and he has.
So, democracy is now dead possibly for the rest of this century in Turkey at this point.
People have only 3 choices now in Turkey.
1. they can deal with living in an Islamic State dictatorship with no rights at all.
2. Or they can revolt.
3. Or they can leave Turkey and not look back.
I'm not sure it has sunk in fully to Europeans that they just lost Turkey.
They likely are too busy dealing with Terrorists and trying to deal with Brexit while keeping the EU intact.
Hey Guys! You just lost Turkey and now Turkey might be fighting you within 10 years sort of like Iran Sunni style!
