What happened in Baton Rouge, Louisiana?

There was a police call of a suspicious man walking down Airline Highway with an Assault rifle. Police were called and this is where the shooting of all the police officers occurred.

One suspect shot dead, 6 officers shot, three of them now dead. The suspect killed might not have identification on him. They are worried about finding these other 2 men who are on the run after shooting police officers with three dead and one more in critical condition.

The Shooter wore all black and wore military type of equipment and carried an assault rifle so likely the man shot dead was the guy with the assault rifle. This information I saw in CNNTV news today.

People at GOP convention center in Cleveland, Ohio are very worried because of all these continuing events ongoing nationwide and worldwide ongoing and appearing to get worse each week so far this summer both nationwide and worldwide.

The shooter is now dead. So, the man in black was the shooter with the assault rifle who was shot dead at the scene after 6 police were shot and 3 have died so far.

end facts from CNN report:

If you have only a 9mm automatic or semi-automatic pistol and maybe if you are lucky a shotgun on the dashboard of your vehicle and don't have an assault rifle like an AR-15 or a Kalashnikov basically you are outgunned and dead. And then, even worse police officers are often now dealing with men with Sniper Training and battle training who fought in the Army in Afghanistan or Iraq. So, this is even worse to come up against, especially if you are not expecting it. Trying to hit a sniper who might be up to one mile away with a scope trained on officers is an impossible task. Then all they can do is shield the public with their bodies because a 9mm police officers pistol is only accurate 25 to 50 feet at most. (unless it has a laser site) which isn't any good during the day by the way. And even with  laser sight it isn't much good over 25 to 75 feet anyway either unless it is a rifle (a long gun)

For example, a sniper rifle with a scope and a trained sniper can easily pick off one or more people from a mile away from his or her location.

One commentator said that officers are trained to get out of their cars because cars are called literally
"coffins" during a shootout. So, officers are trained to jump out of their cars and to put their cars between them and the shooters to use the car as cover. So, usually an officer will go to the right rear or left rear of the car.

The one problem with this is what if someone has a 30 odd 6 (basically an M-1 assault rifle) that can shoot clean through a car or engine block? A 30 odd 6 was used in World War I and II for example to shoot clean through up to 10 soldiers at once going through them all.

One shot of this through a gas tank for example through the body of a car might set the car on fire for example. And even if it doesn't set the car on fire it will be leaking gasoline onto the road which is an entirely different kind of hazard to deal with.

So, what I'm saying here is police officers need a sniper rifle or at the very least an Assault rifle that they can shoot someone up to one block away with for these now more "Normal?" extreme situations.
