I tend to see the Bible as more symbolic than anything else. If one is rational, logical and scientific in their thinking, how could you possibly take the Bible literally unless your parents had terrified you into doing this growing up and beat you until you could have no other point of view and stay alive?
Because once you become rational and scientific you would naturally have to come to another conclusion that the only way to take the Bible would be as symbolic truths rather than literally.
Or you would go to church as a cultural thing rather than as something you actually believed. I find about 75% or more of people who go to church do so because they want to meet their wives or husbands there and want their children all to go to Sunday School together growing up. But, this really has nothing to do with what they actually believe in their heart of hearts so going to church for them is more a cultural act and a way to do business with other church members more than anything else. So, in a sense this is pragmatic and most churches in the world are like this in reality. But, it has nothing to do at all with what people actually believe is true in the end.
I always wanted to take religion seriously but then when I asked useful college level questions people didn't want to answer my questions. So, I learned religions don't want anyone to ask many questions at all because they cannot withstand this level of actual scrutiny. No religion stands up to real scrutiny in the end.
So then I realized religions were about keeping children and adults from committing suicide or killing other people mostly around the world. And this is my conclusion mostly about most religious people now worldwide.
It's true if you have been an abused child that one can then move towards fundamentalism of whatever religion but you find this PTSD Fundamentalist type of person mostly in Muslim Religions because the father can kill his children for disobeying in as a Muslim in most countries that are Muslim and not be punished for it. So, psychologically this creates a PTSD reaction to where people can be turned sometimes to ISIS like fundamentalist points of view where everyone who is a different religion is allowed to be tortured or killed.
For me, in asking questions going to college and studying comparative religion I realized all religions are basically saying the same thing which is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Once you study all religions enough you can see this for yourselves.
From this perspective I came upon progressive revelation as the instrument of my own enlightenment because I realized all religious structures are basically the same in civilizing people with the exception of people who have been abused as children who might be murdering people because they are in a different religion.
And overpopulation worldwide now helps create more abused fundamentalist children in all religions worldwide at this point too. So, likely the ISIS PTSD fundamentalist fighters in the future will be 10 or 100 times more than now later this century logically speaking because of ongoing starvation and a abuse of so many in Muslim countries around the world.
But, if people have enough room to breathe and grow like I was able to then you likely could see more progressive revelation where God is real to a person as someone they can communicate directly with 24 hours a day on going in their lives.
And here at this site I try to teach people to create their own relationships with God and to create their own religions that suit their cultural and individual mindstreams and their individual peace of mind in their lives around the world.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
