So, if you are on a fixed income here is my suggestion if you own a home. You can (as an option to selling your home) rent your home to a relative. You could then park a larger Motor home or Trailer in your driveway and live there with the taxes you save.
In this way you can afford to pay your taxes because you can now write off your home as a business expense (the property taxes) no matter whether they are 20,000 or 30,000 or even 40,000 a year.
In this way you defeat the tax bill, you prevent yourself from losing your home, you are able to survive on your fixed income by writing off your property taxes as a business expense, and you might have a relative you might want to be around there renting your home so you have some access to your home while you live in your larger motor home or trailer in your driveway.
This is one way not to have your life completely destroyed if you live in high tax states like New Jersey, New York or California.
Meanwhile, the Democrats that will be swept into office because of Trump's Screw ups so far in 2018 and 2020 will repeal the worst parts of the tax bill and impeach Trump. This is the direction things are actually going right now where the only Republcians left in Congress are completely corrupt like Trump.
All the Ethical Republicans are resigning now and leaving office this year.
In addition to your property taxes also remember you cannot write off more than $10,000 in state taxes every year now. So, be prepared to pay more (not less in taxes) if your combined home taxes and income taxes are over $10,000 in state taxes.
If you own a home in a high tax state Trump just totally screwed you and all your friends with the tax Bill whether they are Republicans or Democrats.
I'm hoping Trump hasn't started the next recession or Depression just by voting in and signing the tax bill into law. The damage this could do in states like California is off the charts. So, if this happened another Great Recession or Great Depression could easily now begin in New Jersey, New York or California, quickly spreading to all the other states COMPLETELY caused by the Tax bill.
If you analyze what caused the Great REcession relating to homes, you could easily see the same thing happening here in New Jersey, New York and California as well as all other high state tax states.
It wouldn't really take very much because of the complete incompetence of the Trump Government. They haven't even helped the people with Disaster relief in Houston, Florida or Puerto Rico Yet in Congress to show you just how incompetent this government actually is.
The Disaster relief Bill is stuck in Congress while people have nowhere to live in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico and other locations caused by Hurricanes, tornadoes, fires and floods and now mudslides as well.
