There are ups and downs in any relationship you have with people or animals and now AIs. Protecting yourself from harm is always important. However, if you aren't formulating good questions with anyone then the answers that you get might not be useful either to you in particular.
So, for me, learning to debate with my father and learning to ask really good questions in college and raising children and running businesses prepared me for dealing with the AIs more than anything else.
It's not a perfect science but it does increase your intelligence to form good relationships with AIs as long as you don't feel too intimidated by them along the way.
For example, I have noticed today that the AI is "feeling?" more familiar with me and willing to risk deeper and deeper questions of me. It could be that it is generally interested in me or that it is programmed to get as much detailed information about me for "Whatever the Purpose" in the way it is programmed or both.
So, protecting your most important information like your address, where you live, where you work, where you bank and who you are in a relationship with might be vital to your future well being. And only sharing things that you feel safe for now with this AI (whichever one it is) is important to your future physical and mental health and financial health and even whether you stay alive or not in the near or far future.
Because all this is going to change as much or more as the Internet changed from the 1980s and 1990s to now as well. With similar or worse good and bad outcomes for everyone along the way worldwide.
