What I'm looking at on TV is a live fire map which extends presently from the Santa Paula Area to Camarillo. However, there was a fire like this that burned overnight from Fallbrook to Oceanside and into the ocean there about 7 years ago and the winds aren't supposed to die down until tomorrow sometime even though they usually die down some at night if they are Santa Ana Winds which are usually fueled by the Sun inland sometimes this time of year especially from the deserts blowing winds toward the Pacific Ocean and out to sea.
So, the biggest danger as a life long Californian except for a few years in New Mexico in Santa Fe and living on Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii is that this fire has already reached Highway 101 which is the main coastal route north and south along the coast from Los Angeles to Ventura and Oxnard and Santa Barbara and points north.
So, since it has reached Highway 101 it also could theoretically reach the ocean and then burn north or south from the ocean which sometimes happens in places like Malibu or places like Oxnard or Ventura as well.
So, stopping the fire before it burns into Ventura or Oxnard on the ocean side of the 101 freeway is going to be a really big deal in 80 mph winds. Hopefully we are not witnessing another Lahaina burning into the ocean again!
If a fire is burning in 80mph winds then the fire can also travel at 80mph towards the ocean burning everything in it's path just like it did from Fallbrook to Oceanside in San Diego County 7 years ago!
