What is a New Age Christian?

Though my experience as a New Age Christian is different than how I was raised because I have exposed myself to many different religions, Gurus and Tibetan Lamas in the U.S. and Nepal and India this gives a point of view that I find somewhat useful to one's survival and prospering in all ways as a human being here on earth.

begin AI quote about New Age Christian Religions:
"New Age" in the context of Christianity refers to a range of beliefs and practices that blend elements of Eastern religions, occultism, and self-help philosophies with Christian ideas. It's not a formal religion with a central authority but rather a collection of diverse, often eclectic, spiritual approaches. New Age beliefs often emphasize individual experience, self-discovery, and the idea that humans are divine or have unlimited potential.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Key New Age beliefs and practices that intersect with Christianity:
  • Pantheism/Monism:
The belief that God is everything and everything is God, or that all reality is one, potentially contradicting the Christian concept of a distinct Creator God.
  • Reincarnation:
The idea that humans are reborn into different bodies after death, often linked to karma and spiritual evolution.

  • Jesus as a spiritual teacher:
New Agers may view Jesus as a wise teacher or enlightened being, but not as the divine Son of God and savior as understood in mainstream Christianity.

  • Salvation through self-realization:
Rather than relying on Jesus' sacrifice, New Age adherents may believe that salvation or enlightenment comes from within, through self-discovery and spiritual practices.

  • Emphasis on individual experience and intuition:
New Age thought often prioritizes personal feelings and subjective experience over objective truth or established religious authority.

  • Holistic practices:
This can include yoga, meditation, energy healing, and the use of crystals or other objects believed to have spiritual power.

Why this is considered problematic from a Christian perspective:
    • Contradictory view of God:
The New Age view of God as an impersonal force or part of everything clashes with the Christian concept of a personal, transcendent God.

  • Undermining of Jesus' divinity and sacrifice:
Denying Jesus' unique role as the Son of God and savior undermines core Christian doctrines.

  • Relativism and subjectivism:
The New Age emphasis on individual experience can lead to a rejection of objective truth and moral absolutes, which are central to Christian theology.

One of the advantages to Comparative Religion in a serious way is that you begin to see that all religions are about human survival, becoming non-violent towards others of your religion and they are often about what you should eat or not eat. One example of this is to Muslims they are told not to eat pig because it is unclean. However, what is really true that ham and bacon is not safe to eat without either refrigeration or the salting of the pork. But, when these ideas started against eating pork it was in the deserts where it gets very hot and then eating pork might kill you from Trichinosis:

    Trichinellosis | LDBIO Diagnostics
Trichinosis is a parasitic disease caused by Trichinella worms, contracted by eating raw or undercooked meat from infected animals, especially pork and wild game. Symptoms appear days to weeks after ingestion and include gastrointestinal issues, muscle pain, fever, and facial swelling. Severe cases can lead to inflammation of the heart or brain and can be life-threatening. Prevention involves cooking meat to safe temperatures and maintaining good hygiene when handling raw meat.

    Causes
    • Parasitic Infection: Trichinosis is caused by larvae of the roundworm genus Trichinella.
  • Ingestion of Infected Meat: Humans get the infection by consuming raw or undercooked meat containing the larvae, most commonly from pigs, but also from wild animals like bears, wolves, and rodents.

  • Life Cycle: After being eaten, the larvae are released in the intestines and mature into adult worms, which then produce new larvae that migrate to the muscle tissues.

    Symptoms
Symptoms vary in severity and onset, often resembling the flu.
    • Early Symptoms (within days): Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and cramping.

  • Later Symptoms (1–2 weeks later): Fever, chills, muscle aches and pain, muscle weakness, and a headache.

  • Severe Complications (in severe cases): Inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis), brain (encephalitis), difficulty breathing, and coordination problems.

    Prevention
    • Cook Meat Thoroughly: Always cook meat, especially pork and wild game, to a safe internal temperature to kill the parasites.

  • Practice Good Hygiene: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after touching raw meat.

  • Avoid Raw/Undercooked Meat: Do not eat raw or undercooked meat products.

    Treatment
  • Prescription antiparasitic medicines like mebendazole and albendazole can be used to treat the infection.
  • Treatment decisions should be made as soon as possible by medical experts to prevent the parasite from migrating into the muscles.
