Of course these are my own experiences with writing longer things. First of all, you get an Idea (in my own case I recognize God and Angels and Jesus and Saint Germain and Archangel Michael have something they want to say through me that will help mankind (those capable of being in the right place at the right time to be able to read what I write.
Then one has to sort of prepare themselves for writing like this. For me, many of my longer writings were after I was forced to retire because of my health in 1998 and 1999. So, most of the longer stuff I have written is after this.
From my point of view, writing anything longer than maybe 1000 words in anything you write is sort of like having a child in some ways. You have to respect the process which for me is sort of like having an affair or falling in love like in your teens or 20s. You have to commit to the new relationship enough for it to become something wonderful. So, you need to have the time to give to it potentially at least.
Forcing yourself to write something I have found never useful. Like I said it's more like falling in love with what you are writing about. At least this is my process.
So, in some ways I can let the natural Storyteller flow through me from God which reminds me a lot of the natural storyteller of my father and his father. Listening to their amazing stories of their lives made me a better storyteller as I moved through my life especially after age 32 when I began to write about Arcane when I lived in Mt. Shasta with my family then. I was just remarried and living with my new wife and her 2 children from her first marriage as well as my own son that I had full custody of from my first marriage as well.
So, being in a position where you have enough time to write something you love to write about I feel is very very important so that whatever you write is helpful to all that read it.
However, they might not see things as you do and often don't. So, one of the problems is how you describe things is often in your own ways of thinking and seeing and experiencing things. Allow yourself to be unique and individual in your writings. Don't force yourself to write like anyone else.
It's always better to "Shoot from the hip" so to speak where you are genuine with yourself about what you are writing. Otherwise, people can spot a phoney a mile away.
So, writing about things you know something or a lot about might be important as you write.
Also, are you writing for others or for yourself alone? This is important to consider as you write too because if you are writing for a larger audience you also have to think about their potential needs and wants from reading what you write as well.
Becoming a Wordsmith over time also doesn't happen overnight. I try to give people a word or two to think about by giving the definition of it in another article too of words that they may or may not have heard before that might not be used every day in conversations that they have with others.
Writing is Wonderful! And can be wonderful for everyone writing potentially.
However, you have to be faithful to yourself and to your audience in whatever you are writing.
And writing is ALWAYS learning by doing.
Generally speaking the more you write the better you tend to get at it too.
Most of my writings now are from 1980 to the present here in 2025 by the way. Things I wrote before then often my mother threw them away when I moved out because often what I wrote sort of scared her because she was more traditional like people were in the 1920s through the 1950s. Since I am definitely a 1960s and 1970s kind of person from California I'm much more experimental and have traveled all over the world whereas my mother only went to Mexico, Canada, and then Hawaii and Europe with me and my family during her lifetime. Whereas I am much more of a world traveler starting around 1985 with our big 4 month trip to Japan, Thailand, India and Nepal. Ever since then all my children have sort of been citizens of the whole world so to speak.
The more you know about the more you can effectively write about too. So, your experiences all over the world are helpful when you write too and all your many experiences with people like yourself or completely different than you all over the world too.
Good Luck Writing! Communication sincere communication often helps all of us navigate our lives better worldwide!
