Since my father and his first wife Sailed to Tahiti in a yacht in 1939 and stayed there for about 2 years and his brother went for this long journey too I have always wanted to go to Tahiti to see where they lived for 2 years time. He rented a house for them for $2.50 a month with all the bananas they could eat. They eventually took a steamship that came by Tahiti once a month then and sailed to Honolulu where his wife got a job at the local newspaper. My father and his brother took another steamship to Seattle where they worked for their father as electricians. Then his wife at the newspaper in Honolulu experienced Pearl Harbor there getting bombed nearby her and this scared her enough to evacuate to the Mainland back to her home with my father in Seattle, Washington.
So, for me, I would like to Visit Tahiti while I'm still alive since I'm 77 now and my wife is 70. So, probably sometime in the next year we will do this if all goes well.
However, in stead of a 5 hour flight it is about 8 hours from California to fly to Tahiti which I think belongs to France so the main language there is French at this point.
