We flew back to the mainland today from Maui. I was watching a movie one of the Ipads they give you for that and happened to open the window shade and noticed the sun was setting around 4 pm Hawaiian time or 6 pm Pacific time. The sun was setting at 5:45pm yesterday on Maui I believe and here at 4:59 pm so that is the difference between how far south we were towards the equator compared to San Francisco.
Most of my kids and friends live on mainland U.S. so I'm actually kind of happy to be home even though in southern California there has been a lot of flooding from the Atmospheric River. However, Southern California was in drought quite awhile this time so most people will be more helped because of the rain as it fills up reservoirs and makes things green so fires are less likely to start. (At least for now).
