One family arrived from San Diego on Monday only to Face Tuesday's power outage which is still going on

And they left today with their 7 year old son and 16 month old son with no heat here at all except for a Fire place fire last night since Tuesday night.

However, I learned for sure now that our gas water heater doesn't need electricity to operate which is great.

If you live somewhere that there are winds that come (here it's usually January to April) when we can get 75 to 100 mph plus winds that bring down tall trees onto powerlines then it might be important to have a gas stove and a gas water heater that doesn't need electricity to better survive when the power goes out. The longest I think we have been without power here in the over 25 years we have lived here is about 2 weeks.

However, this time it has only been since Tuesday night a day or two before Christmas. So, most of the time my adopted daughter and her husband and children who live in San Diego County were here they had no electricity except for our generator which has been running now 24 hours a day pretty much since 1 Am Tuesday night (Early Wednesday morning).

Well. Today they began their journey home with the two kids. Also, they drive an electric car so they couldn't recharge here because my generator wouldn't cover that kind of charging. So, he had to drive their car out somewhere to charge it because of this. I wonder how many people in the power outage areas of California are in the same boat. Hopefully they all found a place with electricity so they could charge their cars.

However, I noticed in Mt. Shasta that a Rivian Electric Truck owned by a visitor to Mt. Shasta carried a generator large enough to recharge their vehicle out in the bush in the back of their truck. So, it is possible to buy a generator for an electric Truck (or any other electric vehicle likely but in a car you likely would have to pull it in a small trailer so you could recharge in an emergency. However, in the back of a truck makes more sense for a variety of reasons in storms and 4 wheel drive situations in something like a Rivian all Wheel Drive off road truck.

My daughter and her boyfriend from Texas are still here though until tomorrow when they have to return to Austin so they both can go back to work on Monday.
