It means that Castles were a great idea until Cannons were invented which blew down the walls of castles. After this castles were useless to protect kingdoms or states.
Likewise in 9-11 no one had thought of turning a passenger jet plane full of passengers into a missile and flying it into a building before like the Twin Towers or the Pentagon like on that day.
It was a surprise like Kennedy being assassinated in Texas. Just like this.
No one could believe this could happen in New York City or the U.S. at all!
However, Osama Bin laden was a structural Engineer trained in Saudi Arabia and figured out what would bring down these buildings including damaging the Pentagon where many people died too.
even though Osama Bin Laden was a double CIA agent and helped drive the Russians out of Afghanistan in the 1980s with Stinger missiles, eventually our government took him down for being a double CIA agent and 9-11 in New York and the Pentagon.
