This poetic Prose was written in response to September 11th 2001

I remember that morning quite well on September 11th when it happened. I was sleeping and my wife was up first because i'm more of a late night person than she is. She is a morning person and I never have been one in my life. So, she woke me up saying: "I don't know if this is science fiction or not what's going on on CNN News on TV. Tell me what you think. I think a plane just crashed into one of the twin towers in New York City or something.

But then, a helicopter did a close up on what I thought would be some idiot small private plane crashing into a building in New York City. I said, "This doesn't look like a small plane but an entire jet plane! This could be a terrorist act. I'm just not sure yet." About this time a second jet passenger plane flew into the Second of the Twin Towers and my worst fears were validated much to the Horror of the whole world then.

The strangest thing of all is we were then told that any planes in the air would now be shot down all over the U.S. so all passenger planes and all private planes were not allowed to fly without being shot down for a month or more.

Then a little later President Bush was in Florida I think at a public school reading "My Pet Goat" to Children there. So, when they told him: whispered in his ear he looked angry but calmed himself down because he was a father first like me and didn't want to scare the children. So, he went on reading at first this children's book to the children and then excused himself went out and got on Air Force One.

No one knew where Air Force One was flying to for at least 5 hours while all places were secured by the military and all flights into and out of the U.S. were turned back or couldn't take off them for a month or more. Planes from Europe had to land in Canada or Mexico if they didn't have the fuel to return home.

It was a real mess for everyone in the U.S. and Europe and Canada and Mexico and all over the world. Then we almost had a nuclear war while the president and our military tried to figure out who did this during the next few hours and days.

Here is my reaction to 9-11:

Somehow because of Trump's insanity this poem fits now too in these insane present times we live in.

A Poem- From Castles to Cannons

Times have changed
Hopis say swim in the middle of the river
Don't hang onto the banks
Go with the flow
We are all swept away in the new tide
Fighting the changes only brings pain and hurt
Go with the changes
Build a new life from the ashes of the old

A new world paradigm builds
Just as it did in the early 1900's
Everything has changed
And so have we<

I find myself trying to cling onto a past now dead
A past I felt secure in
Nothing feels secure like it once did

I remember how feelings of security crashed during the Cuban Missile Crisis
And when the Kennedys and King died
But it was different than this
And those days are gone
I remember then how insecure we all felt in the 60's
None of us expected to live to be 30
Many young people now may feel the same way
But I say to you truly
You will not die

You will just have to find a way to cope with all the changes
Just as we all did in the 60's
Just as people have had to find ways of coping and going on
Throughout all past times
Things are just different now
They are not over
Just different
