What is Corn Snow?
I'm trying to describe snow about 1/8 of and inch to a 1/4 of an inch like little cotton balls very small coming down out of the sky. I think it is close to hail but something different than this because it doesn't hurt to have these little things bounce off you.
However, our dog loved everything about this experience and rolled in the snow already there with corn snow falling on top of it.
Of course this is very late in the year and now Saturday April 25th so even snow that sticks isn't likely to last very long (at least during the days) when it is already 54 degrees in the little Town of Mt. Shasta today.
A Friend went to Red Fir Flat and said earlier this week it was knee deep in snow there but I think yesterday or the day before it was melted down to about 6 inches to a foot or less.
Today it was so low that people had tracked into the dirt road likely all the way to Ascension Rock to your left at Red Fir Flat.
However, only about a block above us at Bunny Flat people were still skiing and snow boarding down as best they could with the snow there. But, nearer the paved road snow was pretty patchy and this would basically wreck your skis or snow board to ski through very close to your vehicle parked on the paved road today.
