there is a legend that George Lucas was inspired by the Blackout I believe of 1965 (though it might have been another one to make Raider's of the Lost Ark because someone in a university like MIT? built a miniature one and set it loose and it blew out the power all over the place. Since this kind of thing happened at least twice on the East coast it's possible they tried this thing more than once "The recreation of the Ark of the Covenant". However, it was kept out of the news by the government which likely financed the building of this thing through something like maybe MIT?
So, the effect of the miniature Ark of the Covenant was similar to an EMP? Seems like it.
(EMP just means (ElectroMagneticPulse) which can come from a nuke or the Sun through a Solar Flare and I suppose they have also built EMP generators too that take out a mile or 3 miles in a circle too.
In fact, an EMP might be the only way to stop killer robots or AI now too by frying all their circuits with an EMP. However, everything electrical including your cars and laptop computers and literally everthing electrical you or anyone else owns would never work again once an EMP hit your area. All electrical things including cars of all sorts would have to be thrown away or rebuilt in some way (all the electrical components).
