William and Sarah, Arrived 18 September 1727 in Philadelphia
The "William and Sarah" sailed from Rotterdam (Netherlands) via Dover in England under the command of Capt. William Hill.
This apparently was the earliest ship whose immigrant passengers who were not British subjects were required to sign a declaration of allegiance after arrival at Philadelphia. They reached the port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 18th 1727, but the list of signees has a date of September 21st.
Passengers on this ship included Georg Michel Weis (also called George Michael Weiss), Reformed minister who established a church at Skippack in Pennsylvania, later was pastor in Schoharie and Dutchess Counties in New York, and in later years was pastor at Goshenhoppen in Pennsylvania. The passengers on this sailing (called Palatine Passengers in the records) may have emigrated as a group under the leadership of Weiss. Some names on the passenger list had the note "Skipach".
Only the men were listed on the passenger list however, the list included the number of persons in his party.(Straussberger List A). Men were required to sign the specific oaths (Straussberger List B).[1] Rupp's combined the two lists.[2]
Strassburger's List
[List 1 B] Palatines imported in the ship Willm & Sarah, Willm Hill, Commr from Rotterdam, who hereunto sett their hands the 21st of Sepr 1727, in the presence of the Govr & Council.[3]
See Palatine Migration Voyages Arriving in Philadelphia 1727 to 1776 for explanation of the lists, oaths, and sources linked below
- The William and Sarah's A, and B Lists survived and was transcribed.
- Facsimile signatures from the Oath of Allegiance (B-List) are also available.[4]
- (His Mark): When the passenger did not sign his own name, the clerk entered his name and the passenger made his mark, which is indicated in the table below in parentheses.
Passenger List with Linked Profiles
Freight - Billing practices varied by it can be assumed that persons 14 and over were "full freight", younger children were "1/2 freight" and children 4 and under were "free" of charge.

The Project will Archive this comment as it is appropriately placed on the profile of Seitz-250 where it will alert descendents and Project members to the issues.
Unfortunately, John Peter's profile is unsourced. It may be conflated as the has three successive wives and the attached children being born in 1694, 1742, and 1744.
- Heinrich Hartmann (abt.1700-bef.1744)
- Johann Heinrick Hartman (abt.1701-abt.1744)... a note on this profile suggests it is a duplicate of the other profile
The death locations are the same. I will propose a merger of the two profiles.
