Even though it was released to the General public in 1938. It was nice to see something comforting somehow from when my parents were still alive. I don't think I ever saw this as something bad as a child because she gets her wish and the Evil Queen dies which is her karma.
Whereas Bambi(1942) was maybe the most terrifying movie I had ever seen at age 4 in 1952 because Bambi's mother was shot. Other people also said this was the most terrifying movie they saw when they were little too.
But, I find Watching the Original Snow White(1937) very comforting and it makes my subconscious think (just while I'm watching this) that all the people I knew including my parents in the 1950s are still alive so I can have that comforting moment for awhile now even though I'm 78. I was likely 4 or 5 years old so 1952 or 1953 when I first saw this movie in a theater likely. I also around the same time saw Bambi too.
Bambi(1942) changed the hunting laws in the U.S. where it became illegal to shoot a doe so you could only shoot bucks nationwide after this movie came out which is one reason why Deer didn't go extinct in the U.S. since then. Even if you only have one wily buck alive it can keep the species going in any one area.
