Happy New Year! Happy 2020!

I had a strange experience at about midnight last night. I had come to my hotel room because my son's wife wasn't feeling well and went to bed about 11:30 PM LAST NIGHT New Years Eve and was woken up about Midnight with what I thought was someone walking on the roof or jumping up and down on the roof. I was just about to call the front desk when I decided to look outside for the problem on my top story veranda. My room faces north and when I did this there were fireworks going off in about 6 or 7 places to my north. Amazing! So, I realized it was explosions I was hearing not someone jumping or walking on the roof. My room overlooks a lake so the lights of the fireworks also were reflecting in the lake too which was amazing in the light rain in Portland last night.

The only problem was this totally woke me up and then I was up until 2 am but I just slept in to about 11 am this morning and now I'm completely okay to spend new Years day with two of my kids and my son's family. So, Happy New Year! Everyone!

I had to turn off my comments section because of receiving so much spam

Since this is a worldwide blogging site people read this site from almost anywhere on earth people speak or read or write English (or they can translate it through Google Translate into about 60 or 80 languages through a button I have programmed into the site as well. But, the problem I started having was women advertising sexual favors in the comments section especially from places like China and Malaysia and the Philippines  and places like that. At first I would post these comments because they weren't in English so I couldn't read them. But later, I got Google Translate and started translating them from Chinese or other Asian languages to English and didn't want  prostitution associated with this site in any way so I eventually just turned off my comments section because of this.

I think it's unfortunate that this was the only way I could think of to make my site still work for me without having to delete hundreds of spam illicit comments often 2 to 10 paragraphs long advertising things that are illegal in the U.S. except maybe in parts of Nevada.

So, if you were wondering why I turned the comments off this is it. I didn't have the time to read, censor and delete all the spam comments I got and still have it useful for me to blog here at all.

So, I had to make an executive decision in order to keep the site up and running in an effective way for myself and my readers around the world.

Happy New Year everyone! Happy 2020!

8008 articles posted in 2019. IN 2007 there were only 193

There were only 193 posts or articles in 2007 also because I started this blog in the fall then. Before then I had a blog site at Geocities.com that at that time was owned by Yahoo.com . However, when they shut Geocities down I bought a website I call dragonofcompassion.com

http://dragonofcompassion.com/

at around that time from Yahoo business which I have maintained ever since in addition to the one you are reading now. I put longer things I write there so they are more easily accessed. Here, the way this site is set up by blogger.com and blogspot.com it sometimes is hard to find something the way it is set up unless it is really well read and then it winds up automatically (through automatic programming my daughter set up) in the most read articles of the last 30 days at the very top of the page or in the most read in the last 7 days or 168 hours or in the most read in the last 24 hours. The last two are to the right with the rest of the articles.

My geocities.com site I started in 1999 after I survived a heart virus that I almost died from for 8 months time then and ran that site until 2007 when I started the one you are reading now. However, at geocities.com I had to write HTML code for whatever I did which meant people had to be fairly technical in your skills to read and access everything because of this.

When I started this website it was much easier because it has auto-encoders which allow me to spend about 10% of the time to get better results than before regarding pictures and links (word buttons) for you to access. So, a lot of the hardest coding work is now done by Auto-encoders which likely should be thought of as a form of Artificial intelligence at this point.

Not only was it easier for me to set up code but also easier for readers to make sense of everything and see pictures and have links more easily accessible as well.

So, it is a better and more refined experience because of all this both for the reader as well as for me the person blogging at this site. I didn't have to code everything you will soon see in HTML because auto encoders did it for me. If you have never seen HTML code that creates webpages I thought you might be interested in what it can look like:

However, this is only a partial feed of what allowed this page to function as a web page worldwide.

Here is an example of what HTML code can look like:

Regarding U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq

My worry would actually be that the Iranian Militia is busy digging a tunnel under the U.S. embassy and planting a huge bomb there to blow the embassy personnel and soldiers away completely. This is the worry I likely would have about now. I remember Lebanon in 1983 and the 200 or more marines that were all blown up there then. Unfortunately, this likely would start a war for sure between Iran and the U.S. and Trump likely would nuke Iran out of existence (if Putin let him do this). Because Trump wouldn't get re-elected unless he nuked Iran out of existence completely at that point and maybe not even then because then the world would know just how nuts he really is. Because almost anyone on earth could see Trump doing something like this if he was angry enough. And the repercussions likely would go on for about 100 years or more from him doing something like this. And that is completely unpredictable too.

On October 23, 1983, two truck bombs struck buildings in Beirut, Lebanon, housing American and French service members of the Multinational Force in Lebanon (MNF), a military peacekeeping operation during the Lebanese Civil War.

Welcome to the Roaring 20s?

I was watching Don Lemon and Brook Baldwin on CNN at about 1 am PST and someone was announcing the beginning of the Roaring 20s?

Are we really doing the Roaring 20s again?

Also, I'm not entirely certain what the Roaring 1920s meant unless it meant a whole lot of change compared to what had come before. I always thought that's what the Roaring 20s meant in the 1920s.

So, will there be a whole lot more change. Yes. That's really likely.

We are already into the Technological Singularity where your Iphone is already or will be more intelligent than anyone on earth is. That comes within 5 years time right now for example.

That doesn't mean it has instincts like you and I or intuition like you and I, it's just intellectually more capable than anyone on earth. Your smartphone (each one of them) will be or already is (smarter than the biggest single genius on earth already or within 5 years time it will be.
